Photos #245-288

 exposure: 1/4000sec f/stop: 9 iso: 100

I was at a museum where they were exhibiting photos from award winning photographers around the world from a range of categories such as landscape and animals to documentaries and I must say the photos they took were amazing. They also had a section where we could take photos of insects, so using my macro lens I took this shot of a giant praying mantis.

 exposure: 1/4000sec f/stop: 7.1 iso: 200

I love doing splash photos and this is one of a plum being dropped into a bowl of milk from an aerial view. I used my 70-200mm for this shot and I was shooting this on a ladder. It was a pretty messy studio shot but I liked the results that I got from it.

exposure: 1/3200sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

This was a setup from one of the collaboration shoots that Marione and myself had with Nikki and Rovelyn. You can check out more of the pics on the JMCK fan page here.

exposure: 1/125sec f/stop: 32 iso: 100

A simple cheese grater but I like it because of the curves and repetitive shadows.

 exposure: 1/2sec f/stop: 8 iso: 100

A common site for people who work in the city. Waiting for the train at the station and reading the MX.

 exposure: 1/13sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 800

A shot of the empty stage at Annandale Hotel. I mainly chose this shot because the noise isn't that bad.

exposure: 1/200sec f/stop: 1.7 iso: 100

Today I started taking care of a few ducklings that hatched unexpectedly. This newborn was only a couple of hours old.

exposure: 1/60 f/stop: 2.8 iso: 400

My bathroom was just about finished with renovations.

exposure: 1/250sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 400

I was eating at Thai no.1 at Ashfield with Marione and I ordered a penang chicken curry. Tastes so nice!
exposure: 1/2sec f/stop: 18 iso: 100

I usually take photos of movement at night but today I thought I'd try out some blurred shots during the day but its a bit hard without a tripod.

 exposure: 30sec f/stop: 22 iso: 100

I love doing long exposure shots.

 exposure: 1/20sec f/stop: 1.7 iso: 100

A cup of bokeh!

exposure: 1/30sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

A shot of mannequins at the new Pitt St Westfield shopping center.

exposure: 1/125sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

I found a ladybug in my studio crawling around the white cardboard. I don't know how it managed to get there but as usual I had to take grab my camera and take a shot of this.

exposure: 1/60sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

And then there were two ducks. They were starting to drink and walk around.
exposure: 1/100sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

I always love watching other photographers during a shoot. If only I could see this guys shots. I probably should have asked him.

 exposure: 1/30sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 800

I did some late night shopping for some groceries. I just had to take this photo of the emptiness of the car park except for that one car on the right.

exposure: 1/250sec f/stop: 7.1 iso: 400

I took so many shots of this trying to get the timing right and cleaning it up after a failed attempt. Just proves how much patience other people have when taking a splash photo.

 exposure: 1/500sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

This is a shot from a time lapse video of a flower that I'm currently doing at the moment.

 exposure: 1/1000sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

One of the photos from a collaborative shoot with Danny Chung at Luna Park. Check out more of the pics over here.

 exposure: 1/4000sec  f/stop: 11 iso: 200

High speed shot of water coming out of the tap.

exposure: 30sec f/stop: 14 iso: 100

A shot of the Cahill Expressway at night. Usually I'm not a big fan of changing colors in photoshop but I have to say it looks better than color.

 exposure: 1/160sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

Spinning in circles at Hyde Park whilst waiting for our models to show up for our shoot.

  exposure: 1/400sec f/stop: 16 iso: 100

I used wireless flash for this on the left and right sides to get this shot and a sheet of glass underneath for the reflection. The background is just of the studio but I was able to cut that out with a fast enough shutter speed so I wouldn't need to set up a black background.

 exposure: 1/125sec f/stop: 16 iso: 100

I bought this strainer from T2 (tea shop) for my chamomile tea. Chamomile tea is awesome!

 exposure: 1/2500sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

I tried out some High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography today. Its not bad I guess but if its too overly processed it looks fake.

 exposure: 1/20sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 800

Location scouting for a collaborative shoot with Susy Natal and Jess Brown. In the end we chose to have the shoot at Fringe Bar.

 exposure: 1/3200sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

I had a small photo shoot with my friend Jason this day. The theme was obviously tennis but I wouldn't mind doing this shoot again cause I think I can do better.

 exposure: 1/15sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 400

A shot of a vintage typewriter from some random store.

 exposure: 5sec f/stop: 32 iso: 100

I was playing around with my filters and experimenting with a few things that I want to try for my landscape photos. If you look closely you will see my photo has some dark spots which is caused by dust on the mirror.

 exposure: 1/640sec f/stop: 4 iso: 100

Jogging during sunset at Luna Park.

 exposure: 1/4sec f/stop: 11 iso: 100

This was one of the hardest and scariest shots I ever took. Lucky I had my macro lens with me but I kept thinking this spider was going to jump on me or attack me. Good thing it stayed still but whilst I was taking the photo it looked like it was glaring at me.

 exposure: 1/20sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 400

Looking up at the glass ceiling of the galleries victoria.

 exposure: 1/20sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

If you're ever at the fish markets in Sydney I suggest you try out the ice cream sandwiches they have here. I always get this flavor.

 exposure: 1/80sec f/stop: 5.6 iso: 100

Movember is finished! A shot of me before shaving the whole thing off. Thanks to the people that donated money to me =.D

 exposure: 1/30sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 800

And then I had five ducklings. They were so cute and it was pretty cool taking care of them. This is the last photo I took of them cause now they're all at a farm somewhere in Bonnyrigg.

 exposure: 1/200sec f/stop: 8 iso: 100

A shot of Anzac Bridge whilst driving. I know I shouldn't be doing this but it looked cool.

exposure: 1/80sec f/stop: 18 iso: 100

My mum brought home a random no reason cake, so I just had to take a shot of this.

  exposure: 1/100sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

I love the silhouette and colors of this photo.

 exposure: 1/250sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

A shot of my budgies. Two of them died and now I have one left. The one that's in clear focus killed the other two =.S

exposure: 1/25sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 400

A shot from the collaborative shoot JMCK had at the Fringe Bar. Check out some of the photos here.

 exposure: 1/160sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

I don't like it when people throw their gum or candy on the floor for unsuspecting people to step on it.

 exposure: 1/3200sec f/stop: 2.8 iso: 100

A lady looking out to sea and contemplating on her life.

 exposure: 2.5sec f/stop: 5.6 iso: 100

Checking out Christmas decorations at some house in the west. It was pretty cool but look at all the electricity that their using up hehe.

A Taste of Things to Come from Sony

Hello everyone!

Its been a while since I got to blog about Sony camera gear and the much awaited a700 replacement that is long overdue. The 'rumored' details from the camera sites that I follow reveal the following:

- Translucent Mirror Technology (same tech as in the a33 and a55)
- New Sony APS Exmor HD CMOS sensor over 20 megapixels
- ISO in the hundreds of thousands
- Significantly improved EVF
- The body will be made of magnesium alloy
- 1080p/30fps, 720p/60fps and 720p/30fps HD video
- Support for CF, SD and memory stick
- Price will be targeted around the price of the Canon 60d
- Supports a vertical grip
- New mid-level flash (HVL-F43am) with quick-shift bounce

The camera is currently only shown in prototype form but it will be expected to be released in the middle of the year as well as a whole of new lenses. I will definitely get this once its released in Australia since my a350 is slowly dying (cracked camera body which is my fault, front wheel drive malfunction at times).

In addition to these new products that will be announced later in the year, sony alpha rumors have confirmed the Sony a33 will be replaced with the a35 and the NEX 3 will be replaced with the NEX-C3 sometime next month with a bunch of other new products.

CLM-V55
Sony clip-on 5" LCD monitor

Sony released this monitor not too long ago for people who require a bigger monitor to view for video recording and still images instead of using the screens on their DSLRs (doesn't need to be Sony but has to have a HDMI output) or the NEX-VG10. You can check out the specs of it here.
